Pakistan PTA Limited was a member of the ICI Worldwide Group. With effect from 2nd January 2008, Azko Nobel NV completed its acquisition of ICI Plc, UK, the parent Company of ICI Omicron BV. With this acquisition, Akzo Nobel NV has become the ultimate holding company of Pakistan PTA Limited. Pakistan PTA Limited continues to be a direct subsidiary of ICI Omicorn BV.
Who we are
The business of Pakistan PTA Limited is the manufacture and distribution of Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA), a white powder used in the textiles industry as raw material for making polyester fibres. The Company was formed to take over the PTA business from ICI Pakistan Limited in a demerger effective from 1st October 2000.
The Company is the only producer of PTA in Pakistan and its production plant is located at Port Qasim, Karachi.
Adding value to the textile industry
The textiles industry is the mainstay of Pakistan's economy, based on cotton. Pakistan is one of the top five Cotton producers in the world. In recent years the trend has been to blend cotton with polyester and other man made fibres. Garments made from cotton/polyester blends find favour with customers, as they look smart with less ironing, and last longer.
